Goals and Objectives

The purpose of the Saucon Valley 1:1 initiative is to increase the access to learning resources for students, and to leverage technology in ways that fundamentally changes teaching and learning. During the 2012-2013 school year, we will provide every seventh grade student with a web-based device.  Students will have a mobile device to use throughout the school day and at home, which will allow for the extension of learning beyond the school day.  After extensive research, discussion, and stakeholder input, Saucon Valley believes that the Apple iPad provides students and teachers with the best option for creating a 1:1 school.  The iPads will be a source of student engagement and instruction with the use of applications, web-based software, and eBooks.

Successful implementation will allow for expansion of the project in the 2013-2014 school year so that both 7th and 8th grade students have iPads, with the eventual goal of having 1:1 devices for all secondary students (grade 7-12) by the 2014-2015 school year.
